Emilia Romagna is one of Italy’s greatest wine regions, and in particular its Lambrusco vineyard are famous all across the world. At the time of the grape harvest Emilia Romagna is a magical destination for wine fans, and we can show visitors all the region’s finest wineries and enotecas.
The province is home to around 15 DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) varieties, the quality of which is guaranteed by the Italian state, ensuring that every sip will be exquisite. These include semi-sparkling wines from around Parma, Lambruscos from near Reggio Emilia, refreshing white wines from Bologna, and the earthy, medium-bodied red Sangiovese vintages from near the Adriatic.
During the grape harvest Emilia Romagna is also the venue for numerous festivals and feasts. When the harvest is brought in and the wine-making process begins, local people celebrate in style. Visitors from abroad are welcome to join the fun.
These festivals always coincide with the beginning of harvest (usually in early September). Some can be found in the valleys around Piacenza, while the “Three Days of Sangiovese” offers fine food and wine alongside movies and music as well.
Harvest is a magical time to visit Emilia Romagna, and we can create tours to enjoy all the finest tastes and cultural events.
